Gchi Miigwech/Thank You Rama First Nation Members Family and Friends
Dear community members, please accept my sincere gchi miigwech for re-electing me as your Chief for the 2010-2012 term. It has truly been an honour and a privilege to serve you as your Chief over the past five terms and now for a sixth term. I am truly humbled by this great honour.
Also, I extend my thanks and appreciation to all who have taken the time to personally convey through telephone calls, cards, emails, notes, flowers, plants and even hugs of best wishes and congratulations to me. Your thoughtfulness and good wishes are very much appreciated.
To my husband, Walter, thank you for your loving support. You have been a constant source of strength and inspiration to me and are always by my side.
To my loving family and friends thank you for your ongoing encouragement, good wishes and support. It is not easy for family members and friends when a family member is in political office and so your strength and courage is also appreciated.
In closing, I extend congratulations to all candidates for election and to those elected and re-elected to Council. I look forward to working with you all. Rama First Nation members, please be assured that I will continue to work hard on your behalf over the next term.
Once again, miigwech/thank you.
Respectfully,
Chief Sharon Stinson Henry
Dear Community Members:
First, I wish to take this opportunity to extend a sincere miigwech to my Nominator and Seconder for the honourable position of Chief of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. I understand that there were several and I want to say gchi miigwech to all of you for your continued confidence in me and support. It has been an honour and privilege to serve as your Chief since September 2000. This letter is also say gchi miigwech to our members who have given me that great honour.
For five terms you have placed your trust in me, I have worked tirelessly to earn that trust by working hard on your behalf internally and externally with integrity and strong leadership.
While serving as Chief of a dynamic First Nation such as Rama is not always easy, it is a great privilege and I continue to work hard every day on your behalf.
As Chief, together with members of Council, over those five terms, we have continuously improved our accountability to you through consultation with all our members, on and off reserve, including our youth, in part through the 2005-2006 ten-year Community Visioning consultation process. We are five years into completing your vision and have accomplished much of what you have asked for. In a separate paper, I will outline those accomplishments and where together we go from here.
Accountability and transparency has been the cornerstone of my leadership. We have held regular Council meetings, community meetings and semi-annual financial reporting meetings at which you our members are invited to ask questions and provide input. We will continue to improve on that process under my leadership.
Let us continue to work together. I ask for your support on August 27th, 2010 to continue to serve our Proud Progressive First Nation as your Chief.
